Helen - Founder & Head of Training
MA in Early Childhood, Early Years Teacher Status, BSc Psychology
Helen is an Early Years Teacher with a degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. Helen has over 15 years experience working across the birth to five age range. During that time she has seen first-hand how engagement with the natural world nurtures development and wellbeing, and from this grew a passion for enabling young children to experience the richness and diversity of the outdoor environment. Helen has also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychoanalytic Observational Studies with a focus on infant and young child observation. Having completed RIE® Foundations™, Helen is currently working with RIE® Associate and Mentor, Deborah Carlisle Solomon as a RIE® Practicum™ Student. Through her studies and experience, Helen places great emphasis on the need to be aware of and understand the emotional challenges that young children face on a daily basis, and the importance of sensitive and respectful care and support from the adults around them. In her spare time Helen loves splashing in puddles.
Hannah - Founder & Business Manager
BSc Health Sciences, Public Health Cert, Dip in Promoting Public Health
Hannah is Co-Founder of Nurture Outdoor Kindergarten and manages the business operations. Hannah’s career began in science where she specialised in paediatrics. Her interest in Early Years Education is borne from a passion for research, with a particular focus on the birth to five age range. One of Hannah’s favourite things about Nurture Outdoor Kindergarten is seeing the extraordinary development of children in such a rich natural environment. She has a passion for progressive and alternative education. Hannah believes the outdoors offers the ideal environment to foster a life-long love of learning in children. In her spare time Hannah enjoys walks in the woods.
Michelle - Kindergarten Manager
Early Years teacher Status, Early Years FD, Early Years NVQ3, Dip Early Childhood (Montessori)
Michelle has worked for the past 23 years with children (aged 0-5 years) and their families . She has been employed as an early years manager over the past 11 years in three separate early years providers, and most recently led a team of 16 staff,students and volunteers in the early years department of a children's centre.
She recognises the importance of nurturing a sensitive and responsive team in order that each child's needs and gifts are recognised and celebrated. She has a passion for working with children with additional needs and their families, developing strategies to ensure all children have access to a challenging and stimulating environment. Her hope is that children leave kindergarten with; a love of learning, a respect for their environment, a curious and creative mind and a kind heart. She feels strongly that children need to grow knowing they are valued and have much to offer.
Michelle, as part of a blended family has 7 grown up children, with a first grandchild on the way!! She enjoys crochet, reading and walks on the Malvern Hills with her dog, Sherlock.
